Short Biography

Prof. Dr. Md. Zulfikar Ali completed his MBBS from Chittagong Medical College in 1975.
He began his career in government health services in Bangladesh.
He served in Dhaka Medical College Hospital, IPGMR, and other tertiary hospitals.
He also worked in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at IPGMR.
In 1986, he obtained a Diploma in Internal Medicine from the University of Vienna, Austria.
He held key clinical posts including Resident Physician, Consultant, and Associate Physician.
In 1999, he joined Osaka University, Japan, as a Research Student.
He earned his PhD degree in 2007 from Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine.
Since 2008, he has been serving as Professor of Medicine at Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College and Hospital.
In 2014, he was awarded FRCP (Edinburgh) and is widely respected for his contributions to Internal Medicine, education, and healthcare in Bangladesh.

Professional Experience

Prof. Dr. Md. Zulfikar Ali began his professional career as a Medical Officer in government service after completing in-service training at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. He served in various healthcare institutions across Bangladesh, including Thana Dispensary Narayangonj, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Institute of Postgraduate Medicine and Research (IPGMR), Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital, and the Infectious Disease Hospital, as well as multiple district-level hospitals.

He worked as a Lecturer in Anatomy at Dhaka Medical College and later served as Assistant Registrar in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at IPGMR. Over time, he held senior clinical positions including Resident Physician, Junior Consultant, Senior Consultant, and Associate Physician in different tertiary-level hospitals under government service.

In 1999, he joined Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan, as a Research Student and completed his Ph.D. in 2007. He also served under the Directorate General of Health Services and completed deputation assignments at BIRDEM Hospital, Dhaka.

On 1 July 2008, he joined Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College and Hospital as Professor of Medicine. He later served as Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, contributing to clinical services and medical education leadership.
