Short Biography

Dr. Kamrunnahar Alo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology. She completed her M. Phil in Physiology from Sir Salimullah Medical College under Bangladesh Medical University following her MBBS from Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College under University of Rajshahi. 

Dr. Kamrunnahar has over 8 years of experience teaching undergraduate medical students. Her research interests include Endocrine and Metabolic disorder, Exercise Physiology, Interventional Pulmonology and Medical Education and she has contributed significantly through different pee-reviewed publications and conference presentations. 

She is actively involved in mentorship, faculty development program and innovative teaching learning strategies. She has also served on institutional committees and participate regularly in scientific meetings. 

Dr. Kamrunnahar is committed to fostering a deeper understanding of Physiological principles and encouraging scientific curiosity among medical students, while continuing to expand her research in the field of human Physiology.
 

Professional Experience

Associate Professor, Department of Physiology, Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College, Enayetpur, Sirajganj, 2022 - Present

  • Deliver lectures to MBBS and BDS students in medical physiology.
  • Supervise tutorial, integrated teaching and practical sessions.
  • Conduct internal assessment and professional examination.
  • Organize faculty development programs and serve on institutional committees related to academic planning and assessment.  
  • Publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals. 

 

Assistant Professor, Department of Physiology, Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College, Enayetpur, Sirajganj, 2018 - 2021

  • Developed lecture materials and delivered lectures to undergraduate medical students.
  • Prepared assessment tools and participated in examination coordination.
  • Conducted independent and collaborative researches, authored or co-authored of multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented research at national conferences.

 

Indoor Medical Officer, Department of General Intensive Care Unit (GICU), Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College & Hospital, Enayetpur, Sirajganj, May 2014 - June 2015

  • Managed critically ill patients and monitored vitals, reviewed investigations and implemented treatment plans under supervision of the  ICU team.
  • Performed essential ICU procedures such as endotracheal intubation, CPR and central venous catheterization. 
  • Provided ventilator managements.
  • Maintained accurate medical documentation.
  • Participated in case discussion, mortality meeting and training of nursing staff.

Research Interest

Research interests center on:

  • Endocrine and metabolic diseases with a particular focus on mechanisms involved in development of thyroid disorder in type 2 diabetes.
  • Exercise physiology particularly how exercise influence metabolic functions.
  • Interventional pulmonology with a primary focus on advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for lung diseases including airway obstruction and lung carcinoma.
  • Medical education with particular emphasis on innovative teaching and assessment strategies for undergraduate medical students.

Related above mentioned research projects were conducted and already published in peer- reviewed journals and some projects are ongoing for further contribution to the development of medical science.

  • Published over 13 research articles in peer-reviewed journals including Bangladesh Medical Research Council Bulletin.
  • Participated as an oral presenter at ‘4th National Convention and scientific session’ organized by Bangladesh Society of Physiologists, 2017.
  • Speaker at institutional seminar on ‘How to access scientific literature and review article’, Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College, 2020.
