Dr. Halima Khatun Doly is an accomplished Pathologist and medical educator with over a decade of experience in teaching, diagnostic pathology, and clinical research. She earned her MBBS from Mymensingh Medical College under Dhaka University in 2011 and completed her MD in Pathology from BSMMU in 2020.
Her professional journey spans diverse roles, including teaching appointments in Anatomy and Microbiology, residency training in Pathology, and progressive academic positions at Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College & Hospital, where she currently serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology.
Dr. Doly has extensive expertise in histopathology, cytopathology, immunohistochemistry, hematology, and clinical pathology. She is skilled in surgical pathology reporting, aspiration cytology, frozen section biopsy, and advanced diagnostic techniques. Alongside her diagnostic work, she has actively contributed to medical education, training undergraduate students and and medical technologists, and participating in academic workshops and CME programs.
Her research interests include lung pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, breast carcinoma, thyroid lesions, and rare tumor case studies. She has authored multiple original articles, review papers, and case reports published in reputed journals such as KYAMC, AIMDR, JIMJ, and SSNI Medical College Journal. Notable publications include studies on Hirschsprung’s disease, vascular endothelial growth factor expression in breast carcinoma, and hematological parameters in colorectal cancer.
Dr. Doly has presented her work at national and international conferences, including the Bangladesh Academy of Pathology conventions and International PATHCON. She has also delivered poster presentations on rare tumor cases, reflecting her commitment to advancing pathology knowledge and practice.
Beyond her academic and clinical contributions, Dr. Doly is recognized for her dedication to student-focused teaching, strong communication skills, and excellence in scientific writing. Her professional vision is to combine diagnostic precision with educational leadership, fostering the next generation of medical professionals in Bangladesh.
•January 2013 to May2013: Undergraduate student teaching experience as lecturer in the Department of Anatomy, Shahabuddin Medical College and Hospital, Dhaka.
•August 2015 to February 2016: Undergraduate student teaching experience as lecturer in the Department of Microbiology, International Medical College and Hospital, Gazipur.
•March 2016 to March 2020: Working as a resident of MD Pathology course in the Dept. of Pathology, Mymensingh Medical College, Mymensingh (under the University of BMU).
•August 2020 to August 2025: Working as Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology, Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College and Hospital, Sirajganj.
•August 2025 to Current: Working as Associate Professor, Department of Pathology, Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College and Hospital, Sirajganj.
Her research interests focuses on a wide range of pathological diseases identification including
Neoplastic and non-neoplastic pulmonary lesions.
Developing improved staining and biopsy techniques for gastrointestinal disorders, especially Hirschsprung’s disease.
Investigating immunohistochemical markers such as VEGF, ER, PR, and HER2/neu in breast and colorectal cancers.
Studying molecular subtypes of tumors to identify prognostic and predictive biomarkers.
Expanding research on rare tumors (e.g., paragangliomas, renal sarcomas) to contribute to global case registries.
Her thesis entitled as “Histopathological comparison between punch and full thickness rectal biopsy with toluidine blue staining in diagnosis of Hirschsprung’s disease”
She has published scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals.
• Published multiple original research articles, review articles, and case reports in peer-reviewed journals (KYAMC, AIMDR, JIMJ, SSNI Med Col J).
• Research focus includes gastrointestinal pathology, breast carcinoma biomarkers, colorectal cancer, and rare tumor case reports.
