r. Muhammad Zakir Hossain Khan earned his MBBS degree in 2005 from Sylhet M.A.G. Osmani Medical College. Following his graduation, he served as a Medical Officer in the Department of Medicine at East-West Medical College Hospital.
He obtained a PhD in Medical Science (Nephrology) from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan, in March 2013. In recognition of his academic excellence and research potential, he was awarded the prestigious Japanese Government Scholarship for his doctoral program.
After completing his advanced studies abroad, Dr. Khan held several key academic and clinical positions, including Registrar, Consultant, and Assistant Professor roles in Medicine and Nephrology. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Nephrology at Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College.
Dr. Khan is widely regarded as a specialist in Hypertension management and Molecular Nephrology. He has received advanced specialized training in Gastroenterology from Showa University, Japan, and holds a Certificate Course in Diabetology (CCD) from the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BIRDEM).
He took hands-on research training in Molecular Signaling and Renal Physiology in Japan; his work on the Na-Cl cotransporter (NCC) and WNK kinases has been presented at renowned international forums, including the 44th and 45th ASN Annual Meetings in the USA and the JSN Annual Meeting in Japan.
Dr. Khan is highly skilled in utilizing advanced biomedical research technologies, including CLC Genomics Workbench for genomic analysis and molecular techniques to study protein regulation and ubiquitination, which he routinely applies to his clinical understanding of chronic kidney disease.
