Short Biography

Dr. Taslima Akber Happy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health at Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College (KYAMC), Bangladesh. She earned her Master’s degree in Public Health Science from the National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM), under the University of Dhaka. Her research interests include maternal and child health, disaster preparedness, injury prevention, healthy lifestyle promotion, non-communicable diseases, and drowning prevention. Her master’s thesis led to a publication titled “Pattern of Antenatal Care Received by Working Mothers and Their Pregnancy Outcome” in the KYAMC Journal (2022).

Since 2015, Dr. Taslima has been actively engaged in supervising field survey programs and undergraduate research activities, guiding students in developing their academic and professional competencies. She serves as the Co-focal Person of the Medical Education Unit and the KYAMC Research Hub (since 2024). She has been an Executive Member of the Institutional Ethics Review Board (IERB) since 2023 and also acts as the Coordinator of the Cultural Committee at KYAMC.

Dr. Taslima Akber Happy is a Member of the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), United Kingdom, through which she continues to engage in global public health discourse, professional development, and collaborative initiatives aimed at advancing health promotion and disease prevention worldwide.

 

Professional Experience

Dr. Taslima Akber Happy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health at Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College. With over a decade of experience in medical education, she has been deeply involved in teaching, curriculum development, research supervision, and academic mentoring of undergraduate medical students.

As the Co-focal Person of the Medical Education Unit, Dr. Happy plays a key role in planning and organizing faculty development programs, preparing training modules and schedules, selecting participants, coordinating with resource persons, and ensuring the smooth conduct of all academic training sessions. She also contributes as a resource person in various institutional training initiatives.

Dr. Happy serves as an Executive Member of the Institutional Ethics Review Board (IERB) since 2023, where she actively participates in reviewing and maintaining ethical standards in research. In addition, she has been the Co-focal Person of the KYAMC Research Hub since 2024, promoting interdisciplinary research and academic collaboration among faculty and students. Alongside these roles, she serves as the Coordinator of the Cultural Committee, fostering student engagement and extracurricular development.

Her research interests span a wide range of public health issues, including maternal and child health, Antenatal care, Working mother, disaster preparedness, injury prevention, non-communicable diseases, drowning, and healthy lifestyle promotion. She has conducted and supervised numerous research projects and has published scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals.
